Individual Champions

Darlington Champions is a highly successful charitable grant making programme that has so far given out over £500,000 to good causes in your town. We’ve been working extremely hard, building relationships with local companies to improve quality of life in Darlington for everyone. And now we need your help to ensure that everyone can benefit from the recent success and redevelopment of Darlington.

We are launching a major new initiative to gain support from people just like you, people who care about Darlington and want to help other people in your town. Darlington Champions help people who are trying to raise themselves out of poverty, provide opportunities for the disadvantaged and champion people to excel in their chosen field.

This includes investing in children and young people, improving their quality of life and prospects for the future. We also support the homeless and the elderly to provide shelter, support and friendship. Help is given to everyone from community groups to individuals, we are determined not to leave out those in need.

Unlike national charities, 100% of our support goes to people in Darlington, people like Maggie whose son Alexander was born with Down syndrome. Maggie set up the Education Centre for Children with Down syndrome, which now supports 48 families that regularly attend, helping to increase their confidence and skills in a fun environment whilst offering a support lifeline to parents.

Maggie explains: “When you have a child with Down syndrome, you don’t know what your future holds – either for yourself or your child. It can be a frightening experience. Being a part of the Education Centre makes you realise that help and support are available. We put a smile on everyone’s face with Darlington Champions’ support.”

You can join us as a Darlington Champion from as little as £10 and you decide who benefits from your donation.You’ll get regular updates, detailed information about who has benefited from your generosity and even the chance to meet the people you have helped. Darlington Champions is part of County Durham Foundation, a local charity that has touched the lives of 80% of people in County Durham and Darlington. Since 1995 we have given out over £12 million to good causes, funding over 4,100 groups and 1,800 individuals.
