Firthmoor and
District Community Association enjoy new
Jukebox!
We have some fantastic pictures this
week from the Firthmoor and District Community Association.
They were recently given a grant of £3,000 to purchase a Juke
Box for young people involved in the Playworker Project. This
project has helped to empower young people and encourage them
to develop their own activities.
The group has been such a success that
they have even organised a weekly “happy days” themed night,
with the Juke Box being the focal point. The project has had a
positive effect on the children, raising morale and aiding
their personal development.

New cinema planned
at Darlington's new Oval#
Discovery Properties has negotiated a
deal with Vue Cinemas to be the leisure anchor tenant at its
300,000 sq ft retail and leisure park, The Oval. This
announcement follows Debenhams announcement that it is to be
the retail anchor tenant. The new complex is due to be
completed in 2010 and features 34 shops, five restaurants and
2 leisure units.
Vue Cinemas are the
UK’s
largest operator of modern multiplex cinemas, and the 9 screen
cinema will be Darlington’s
first multiplex. Discovery Properties Chief Executive Hugo
Hawkings, said: “The commitment of two such great tenants is a
major plus to our scheme because they will increase footfall
and dwell time ensuring that The Oval becomes one of the North
East’s premier retail and leisure locations."
