Olympic Special!
Last year we created the young people and education bursary fund with an aim to support young people in County Durham and Darlington who are achieving against the odds. Since then we have received a great deal of support from local individuals, many of which are successful North East entrepreneurs. Over the year this fund has helped some of the region's most devoted young athletes to achieve success. John Hutchinson and Denise Baker are just two of the most recent examples.

John Hutchinson

24-year-old John Hutchinson from Darlington is currently exceling in the sport of Gymnastics despite having Down Syndrome and severe learning disabilities.  John became interested in gymnastics at the age of 14 and has trained very hard ever since, determined not allowed his disabilities to hold him back. After winning his event at the UK special Olympics in Birmingham last year he was chosen to represent Great Britain at the World Summer Games Special Olympics in Shanghai China.

John recently received £1,500 towards the cost of travel, accommodation and uniform whilst attending the games.

We wish him the best of luck and will hopefully be reporting soon on his future success.
