North
Lodge District Guides

The
North Lodge District Guides Association is based in
the Eastbourne ward of Darlington, one of the top 10%
most deprived areas in the UK. Over 170 girls attend
the guide group, which provides a place where the girls
can meet, make friends and take part in educational
activities.
Brownies
from the group were given £2,515, which allowed
them to enjoy a 3-day trip to Robinwood Adventure Centre
in Cumbria.
The
Robinwood Activity Centre was created especially for
children of ages 8-11 years old and features an
artificial caving area, a special 'shallow lake', two
zip wires, a trapeze, obstacle course and much, much
more.
Being
a brownie is all about gaining new experiences
and having fun while you do it. This grant gave the
Darlington Brownies the opportunity they needed
to do just that. The girls took part in lots of
events such as archery, canoeing and raft building and
despite some very wet weather they all gained
their "agility" and "out and about" badges. We
have also been told they enjoyed splashing
around in some rather large puddles!
The
girls all thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, "Thank you
County Durham Foundation for all the money. We really
appreciate it!"
