Darlington St. John Guides
 The
6th Darlington St Johns Guides are based in the Lascelles
ward of Darlington, one of the top 10% most deprived
areas in the UK. As part of the Girl Guiding Association,
they aim to increase the self-confidence and self-esteem
of young girls aged between 10 and 14 years old, through
indoor and outdoor activities.
The
St Johns Guides were given £3750 to attend The Big Gig,
a yearly music event organised by the National Guides
Association.
The
event this year was held
at the new Wembley Arena. Guiding groups from all over
the UK attended, over 11,000 guides in fact! Some of
the UK’s most famous singers such as The Sugababes and
Lamer performed on stage to the screams and applause
of the crowd.
The
girls also took part in a tour of London, to experience
the sights and sounds of the capital city.

the form and return it - I needed to say how delighted
I am. The girls are so happy, thank you so much".
