Woodham Warriors American Football group was set up in February 2004 to give local young people the opportunity to learn and participate in a sport that many will have never thought about trying. The young people learn a new sport, develop new skills and develop self discipline, sportsmanship teamwork, confidence, and respect for others.
The group received £8,650 to further develop their successful American Football programme. The majority of the money was used to purchase essential equipment such as 20 sets of helmets and shoulder pads, field equipment, a coach’s kit and the most up to date and cutting edge training equipment.
The right equipment and a lot of hard work from the Warriors has lead to a 7th place finish in the World Championships held in New Orleans. A fantastic achievement from an English team!
“The Warriors would like to extend their sincere thanks to the County Durham Foundation for this amazing opportunity to not only progress the club in areas that without the money we would not have been able to do, but also to continue to make positive strides as the biggest youth American Football organisation in Britain.”
