The Darlington Citizens Advice Bureau was set up in 1964, and there are currently more than 4,000 people using the services every year. This organisation aims to ensure that individuals do not suffer through a lack of knowledge with regards to their rights as citizens, and to influence the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
The service is open to all, without prejudice. It provides a free, impartial, confidential and independent service.
Darlington Citizens Advice Bureau was granted £7,038 to provide a modern telephone service that is more accessible to clients.
Thanks to our grant the Bureau now has a single telephone number, which all services can be accessed from making it simpler for people to make contact. The service is more efficient as clients are able to get straight through to the person they need to speak to either in person or to a voicemail, meaning messages are reaching the right people and are being dealt with much quicker.
"Your donation has been a major factor in our ability both to
give the people of Darlington an even better and more accessible service and
- also importantly - to present a more professional image that improves confidence
in us."
